Day X, Galway
DAY X is the name being given to the day when Bush & Blair attack Iraq. Across the world, anti-war demonstrations are planned for that and following days. Here, the Irish Anti-War Movement will be demanding that the war be stopped, and that Shannon Airport not be used to prosecute it.
At noon on DAY X, a ten minute stoppage is planned. People are asked to stop whatever they're doing and go outside - stop work, leave lectures or classes, walk out of the house, stop the car. We would suggest that GAAW supporters begin to discuss this with their work colleagues, college friends, or whoever. Union shop stewards are being approached by a GAAW deputation. Can you mention it to your own union representative?
At 6 pm on the evening of DAY X, there will be vigils in cities and towns throughout the world. In Galway, go to Shop-street / High-street -and bring a candle. Contact your friends about this throughout the day
The Saturday following DAY X is a day of regional peace demonstrations. The rendezvous for the Galway march is the Fr Burke Park on Fr Griffin Road at 1 pm. Again, we are asking people to spread the word.
