EVENTS 

For the next 3 weeks swp, GALWAY ALLIANCE AGAINST WAR and eco-soc will jointly be showing a series of films to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the first ever global demonstration, which occurred on 15th February 2003 before the start of the war in Iraq. The demo was Ireland's largest ever and thus a very significant event.

*Monday 11th February at 7pm in the Dillon Theatre, NUI Galway concourse.

Rhuhel Ahmed is a British citizen, who spent over 2 years in Guantanamo. You may recall he was to speak at an event in January at Liam Mellows statue, but at the last minute had to cancel due to his wife taking ill.

Irish delegation to visit Middle East Monday 3rd March

Cross-party politicians will visit Israel and Palestine this week as the two states attempt to learn from the Northern Ireland peace process.

A delegation from the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs will meet non-governmental organisations (NGOs), United Nations' representatives and teams involved in the peace talks.

We urge all anti-war activists to remember these deaths by holding this silence where-ever they may be at the time.
