MediaBite is hosting a debate in DIT Aungier street, Dublin2, on the 9th of April at 6:15pm.
The event is a debate on media coverage of the Iraq war. The purpose of which is discuss whether something can be learned from the perceived failures of that coverage and whether lessons learned could have implications for coverage of future conflicts, specifically the current escalation towards Iran.
GLOBAL DAY OF ACTION TO BAN CLUSTER MUNITIONS
A global day of action to Ban Cluster Bombs will take place on
Saturday, 19 April 2008, exactly one month before the crucial Dublin
Diplomatic Conference on Cluster Munitions (19 - 30 May 2008) where
negotiations for a treaty that will ban cluster bombs will take place.
The main aim of the day is to raise awareness through generating
media coverage of the cluster munitions problem, the treaty process
and the Dublin negotiating conference, and to specifically highlight
GUANTANAMO POETRY READING - RATHGAR GROUP
Amnesty Rathgar group will host a poetry reading from "Poems from
Guantanamo: The Detainees Speak".
These poems allow the thoughts and feelings of Guantanamo detainees,
many of whom remain in the detention camp, to finally be told in
their own words.
