As you will know, the jury at the trial of the Raytheon 9 accepted that Raytheon's Derry plant was linked to the rest of the company's international operations, and therefore contributing to the war crimes being carried out by the Israeli's in Lebanon in Summer 2006. Today, those war crimes are being surpassed by the barbarity we see being perpetrated by the Israelis in the Gaza Strip. Unfortunately, Raytheon remains in Derry, contributing to those war crimes.

Therefore, the Derry Anti War Coalition is calling a mass blockade of Raytheon in Derry for Friday 9th Jan. We intend to let no one into the building to start any work. It will, of course, be non-violent. We are calling on anti-war and anti-arms trade activists from around Ireland to come and join us. An Ulsterbus leaves Busaras in Dublin at 4am which would get people to Derry about 7.15am and Raytheon is just a £3 taxi drive from there (and all the taxi drivers know where it is). If people want to travel the night before we will do our best to put everyone up (bring sleeping bags).

Please send this call out on your networks asap.

Thanks,
Goretti Horgan

GALWAY UNITE: END THE HOLOCAUST
This Friday, 9th January, at 2pm people are being asked to assemble in the Westside Library car park , Galway to participate in a peace march in solidarity with the embattled Palestinian people of Gaza.

A host of voluntary bodies have come together under the umbrella “Galway Unite” to offer their support to Palestine.

Treasa Ní Cheannabháin, who last year famously broke Israel’s economic blockade of Gaza to bring aid to the people there, explained the importance of Friday’s peace march into Galway:
“People the world over have been silent too long about the holocaust being wreaked daily on the poor Palestinians. We have chosen 2pm on Friday, as that is the time Galway’s Moslems finish their prayers. The intention is to express our solidarity with the city’s Moslem community and walk together with them behind a banner calling for an “End to the Holocaust” against the Palestinian people. It is as simple as that.

Ógra Shinn Féin Newcastle will be hosting a torch light vigil in solidarity with the Palestinian People of Gaza currently enduring sustained brutality from Israel.

The vigil will take place at 8.30pm on Friday 9th January, on Main Street in the County Down town.

Urging solidarity and attendance at the vigil, Newcastle Ógra Shinn Féin chairperson Fra Cochrane said,

"The continual onslaught of the Palestinian people in Gaza is simply unacceptable and has to end now. The current situation is a humanitarian crisis and the Israeli's have continued unabated despite millions pro-actively condemning their massacre around the world.”

"Israel needs to immediately pull back its forces from Gaza, end these attacks and enter into meaningful peace talks with the representatives democratically elected by the Palestinian people. We as Irish people must stand shoulder to shoulder with the people of Gaza and it is for this reason that I am urging maximum attendance for this vigil.”

Stop the Slaughter in Gaza! A demonstration in support of the Palestinian people will take place in The Square, Tralee, Saturday 10th Jan @ 11.30am

What is happening in Gaza is nothing less than collective punishment of a civilian population.

Israel is saying: \"This is what you get when you support Hamas\"

This is Israel flexing its military might after its previous humiliation in Lebanon, re-establishing itself as the biggest bully on the block.

This is Israel pretending to be involved in a pretended \"War on Terror\".

This is part of a new process of making Arabs and Muslims into \"The New Jews\" of the World, a scapegoat population to be demonised and destroyed. These are the people its supposed to be OK to hate.

This is illegal and immoral.

This is madness.

"Stop The Slaughter in Gaza!"
Assemble: The Square, Tralee
Date: Saturday 10th Jan @ 11.30am

Start: 13:00

Israel’s mass slaughter and devastation of Gaza shows its barbarity has no limits. In the last two days, missiles hit a mosque and Gaza’s biggest open market, killing women and children in both cases.

Half of Gaza’s population of 1.5 million Palestinians are children, dozens of whom have been killed or injured in the past week. Hospitals in Gaza are overflowing with dead and wounded while facing severe shortages of essential medical supplies. Hospitals have no electricity and say their emergency generators are close to collapse. United Nations representatives say the horror unleashed by Israel is “inhuman” and Gaza’s population is “trapped, traumatised and terrorised”.

Start: 13:00

A protest against the Israeli slaughter of the Palestinian people in Gaza will take place at 1.00pm on Saturday 10th January at Daunt's Square, Cork.

Start: 15:00

On Saturday afternoon a peace vigil in solidarity with the people of Gaza will be held in front of Pennys at 3:00 pm during which a peace lantern from the Holy Land will be lit as a mark of public support for the people of Gaza.

Please support these local actions of solidarity and take a stand to demand the protection of civilians in Gaza and the full implementation of international law, UN Resolutions and the Geneva Conventions.

The slaughter in Gaza – with over 500 women men and children  dead and many more injured – has shown up the brutal, racist nature of the state of Israel. Just like the apartheid regime in the past, Israel has instigated such terror and injustice that it must be isolated internationally. A mass campaign to boycott Israeli goods can make the point forcefully and allow everyone to participate.

There will be a demonstration in Galway City centre on Saturday January 17th at 2.30pm to protest the barbaric treatment of the people of Gaza by Israel.
People are asked to congregate at the Wilde Statue,at the end of Shop St. to show solidarity with the Palestinian cause and to tell the world that the actions of the Israeli government in Gaza are an affront to humanity. To date nearly 900 people have been killed in Gaza, a figure that is rapidly approaching the number killed by the Israelis in Lebanon 2 years ago.

The assembly will be adressed by a number of speakers, demanding that the Irish government immediately expels the Israeli ambassador to Ireland, and calling on the Irish public to boycott all Israeli products.
A list of Israeli products and brands will be publicised at the demonstration and distributed outside various retail outlets in the town.
As Naomi Klein states, " The best way to end the bloody occupation is to target Israel with the kind of movement that ended apartheid in South Africa." The people of Ireland played a noble and leading role in that movement. Please support the Galway Free Gaza Campaign.
