NUN'S ISLAND THEATRE, GALWAY @ 7PM

Mayo men, Derek Graham and Alan Lonergan who crewed Free Gaza Movement boat "The Dignity"  from Cyprus to Gaza will be in Galway as part of national tour to get Irish support for the next voyage in March.

Our very own Treasa Ní Cheannabháin who has just returned from a devastated Gaza will join them on the platform.  Treasa will be returning to Egypt to ensure that the aid so kindly donated last weekend by the people of Galway gets through the Israeli controlled border in Rafah to the families in Gaza.

Protest Meeting at Eircom HQ (near Heuston Station) - Tue 24th Feb at 12.30pm

Eircom plans to award a major contract to Israeli company Amdocs. This is despite the recent murderous Israeli assault on Gaza, which claimed the lives of over 1,300 people, including more than 300 children. Israel has shown a blatant disregard for international law and the norms of civilised behaviour.

Protest against this to show your opposition to Eircom’s “Business As Usual” attitude.

Press Statement – Embargo - 26th February, 2008 - UNITE Offices on 55-56 Middle Abbey St

RTE Coverage of 2008 Lisbon Debate Unbalanced and grossly in favour of Yes Side

In a 71 -  page report entitled “Falling at the Feet of Power” launched on Thursday 26th February, the Campaign Against the EU Constitution (CAEUC) – NO to Lisbon argued strongly that RTE’s coverage of the Lisbon debate in 2008 had been unbalanced in favour of the Yes side.

The report analysed RTE’s six top News and Current affairs programmes and found problems in relation to fairness and balance.. The CAEUC research revealed, for example, that 63% of the speakers who spoke on the top six RTE news and current affairs programmes were supporters of the Yes side. The report also documented  115 incidents where RTE did not comply with its own Charter to “strive to reflect fairly and equally the … political diversity of Ireland and its peoples”.
