"He who joyfully marches to music rank and file, has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would surely suffice. This disgrace to civilization should be done away with at once. Heroism at command, how violently I hate all this, how despicable and ignoble war is; I would rather be torn to shreds than be a part of so base an action. It is my conviction that killing under the cloak of war is nothing but an act of murder." Einstein

THURSDAY 20 MARCH
Local Anti- War group Galway Alliance Against War will mark the 5th anniversary of the start of the Iraq war by holding a minute's silence (at 12 noon) in memory of more than one million people who have died in Iraq as a result of the USUK invasion and occupation, and to highlight that more than 1 million US troops have passed through Shannon airport!.
We urge all anti-war activists to remember these deaths by holding this silence where-ever they may be at the time.
The group is to organise a human chain in the main thoroughfair of Galway, assembling at 11.45am at the Wildes Statue, top of Shop St., Galway City.
We will also send a letter to Bertie Aherne calling for the CIA planes to be inspected at irish airports, following the details of the recently released Amnesty report.
