AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL EVENT
‘Songs From a Cage’

Galway’s Musicians play for Human Rights in a cage as part of a street demonstration in support of Guantánamo prisoners.

marking the 60th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights with the ‘ Small Places Tour’. This is a series of concerts and gigs by musicians all over the world who are dedicating their time and talent to raise awareness about human rights.
Almost 30 gigs are already scheduled across Ireland in the lead up to International Human Rights Day on 10 December and ‘Songs from a Cage’ is the first event in Galway.
Local Amnesty International activists will also take part in the demonstration asking for help from members of the public to shut down Guantánamo Bay detention centre, where 250 boys and men continue to be imprisoned, and to end Ireland’s role as a staging post in the practice of rendition.
